High speed rail upgrade between Chicago and St Louis

Since its founding in 1862, the Union Pacific Railroad has always been improving the way we transport people and goods. One hundred and fifty years later, the UPRR is working in conjunction with private contractors and the State of Illinois to develop and construct a High-Speed Intercity Passenger Rail (HSIPR) to connect Chicago and Saint Louis. This route will allow trains to operate at speeds up to 110 miles per hour.

R.W. Dunteman Co. was contracted for portions of the railway construction between the towns of Braidwood and Carlinville.
